I used to beat myself up five days a week, and felt like a failure if I didn’t sweat buckets and feel sore, even though I never touched anything heavier than  12-pounds and rarely saw changes. In our twice weekly workouts, Sam corrected 25 years of bad habits, I feel safe pushing myself, I’ve made great gains, and I use the 22-pound weights.

I came to Sam looking to get back into weightlifting and to increase my overall movement quality. I had come off a back injury and hadn't lifted weights for years. I found myself waking up in the mornings very stiff and when I'd try to go for runs I was in so much pain that I was having to cut them short. With Sam, I’ve made substantial gains in the weight room but more importantly, I move so much better.

 

Sam has used a scientific approach to our training, always testing out new moves to see if my body would respond positively. I found this approach very refreshing. You never feel like you're part of a one-size-fits-all program. He also does a great job making each session fun, which keeps me coming back for more!

Following a serious fall and brain injury, and weeks of physical therapy, my 90 year old dad needed a walker to get a round. Depression was setting in. We decided to send both my parents as my dad speaks little English, and my mom would be needed to translate. Within a month, my mom said her legs were stronger. Her gait was also sprightlier. My dad now uses a cane. His knee pain has abated and his arms are getting stronger, which helps when he does need to use a walker. They ask daily, “Are we going to see Sam today?” No one else gets them out of the house faster. They are much further along than we could have hoped or even knew possible,  we only wish we found Sam 10 years ago. My parents use more English now than they have in years and  Sam is learning Cantonese too, which we appreciate tremendously.
